Seasonal Meeting

Seasonal Meeting

Foreign students of the Kielce University of Technology, as every year, took part in “The Seasonal Meeting“. It is already a tradition that foreigners studying at our university have
a chance to learn about elements of Polish culture, customs and cuisine related to Christmas time in Poland.

On December 11, 2024, a truly festive atmosphere prevailed in the Energis club room, which was co-created by the guests who came to the meeting. Vice-Rector for Student Affairs
and Education Prof. Artur Maciąg, warmly welcomed the guests and wished them Merry Christmas. The Christmas spirit was aslo shared by other representatives of the university who join the meeting: the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatic Control and Computer Science dr hab inż.  Roman Deniziak, prof. PŚk , the Dean of the Faculty of Mechatronics and Mechanical Engineering, dr hab.  Jakub Takosoglu, prof. PŚk , the Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering, Geomatics and Renewable Energy, prof. dr  hab inż. Tomasz Kozłowski, and Vice-Deans: dr hab inż. Paweł Zmarzły, dr inż. Michał Skrzyniarz, who is also the faculty coordinator of the Erasmus+ program, and other faculty coordinators of this program, dr inż. Dorota Wiraszka, (WEAiI) and dr. inż. Agnieszka Cienciała (WIŚGiE).

Students from different countries studying regularly or as academic exchange students under the Erasmus+ program had the opportunity to learn not only about the customs and traditions
of Christmas in Poland but also about other selected countries. Willing students from El Salvador, Turkey and Italy gave extremely interesting presentations about the customs in their countries.

The artistic part was an original concert of carols and pastorals in a folk note performed by students of the Ludomir Różycki State Music School Complex in Kielce.

The presentation about Christmas customs and the performance of young musicians was watched by a long-awaited guest – Santa Claus, who checked with questions and quizzes whether the students of the Kielce University of Technology deserved the gifts. Eventually, he found out that everyone has been very good, so all students received Christmas gifts.

The meeting was organized by the International Relations Department this year with the support and great commitment of the University Student Government and mentors who support foreign students in integrating with the local community on a daily basis.

We hope that the Christmas time in Poland, despite the longing for home, will be full of warmth and joy for our foreign students, and that the New Year 2025 will bring many successes.
