Kielce University of Technology Awarded Funding under the NAWA Programme Joint Research Projects between Poland and Slovakia 2025

Kielce University of Technology has been selected as a beneficiary of the Joint Research Projects Poland–Slovakia 2025 programme, implemented by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA). The project is carried out in cooperation with the University of Žilina and is one of 16 initiatives selected nationwide, including 6 projects implemented by technical universities.

The initiator of the project on behalf of Kielce University of Technology is dr hab. inż. Monika Madej, prof. PŚk, Head of the Department of Operation, Laser Technologies and Nanotechnologies (Faculty of Mechatronics and Mechanical Engineering).

The project entitled “Enhancing the Wear Resistance of Steel through the Application of Surface Layers with Consideration of Service Life Durability” will be implemented from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2027.

The main objective of the project is to develop innovative single- and multilayer anti-wear coatings that significantly improve the durability and functionality of steel under demanding operating conditions, including friction nodes used in the open-pit mining industry.

The project includes:

  • development of advanced surface engineering technologies,
  • implementation of joint experimental research,
  • preparation of international scientific publications,
  • researcher mobility and intensive exchange of knowledge and experience between Polish and Slovak research teams.

The implementation of the project will contribute to strengthening the research potential of Kielce University of Technology, enhancing the competencies of academic staff and early-career researchers, and further deepening international scientific cooperation between Poland and Slovakia.
